Unwrap the new wax seal and place it over the flange on the floor with the round side up exactly centered over the opening. Replace the washers and nuts on each toilet bowl bolt and evenly tighten the nuts onto the bolts. Replace the nuts. This will help the seal actually seal.

Replace the toilet tank atop the bowl and align the shank of the bolts with the holes in the bowl. Be careful not to over tighten the nuts as it may crack the porcelain bowl. Lift the toilet and place it over the flange. Open the new seal.

Diyers often set the toilet and then apply a tiny bead of caulk along the outside edge.
