There are 2 different venues that were once known as charlotte coliseum. The first was located at 2700 east independence boulevard and opened in 1955. The hive as locals called it was home to the original charlotte hornets of the nba. The hornets began play in 1988 and moved to new orleans in 2003.

The coliseum was imploded on june 3 2007. In charlotte where it s hard to see history preserved this is one of my favorite old buildings in the city.
